I believe in a strong and prosperous Canada. I believe in a Canada where hard work is rewarded with success. I believe in freedom of speech, worship, and assembly. I believe in the equality of all Canadians. I believe in protecting personal property rights.
There is no doubt in my mind that Paul Dewar means well, he’s just is wrong on the issues. To Mr. Dewar corporate tax cuts mean breaks for banks and big oil. To regular Canadian business owners a break on business taxes means a better Christmas.
I support the strong and vibrant arts community of Ottawa-Centre. That is why I oppose the massive public subsidies currently given to “artists” whose greatest talent lies in their ability to meet criteria for government funding. Cut taxes, let people take more money home, and let Canadians decide which artists they support. That is how to support excellence in the arts.
The greatest cultural icons of Ottawa-Centre are the businesses that thrive in Westboro, Centretown, the Glebe, Hintonburg, and Old Ottawa South. Business owners work hard, contribute to our communities, and employ us and our children while giving us places to meet, shop, learn, and enjoy. Mr. Dewar would rather punish “big oil” and banks than give Ottawa-Centre business owners a break.
It is time to give Ottawa-Centre the strong voice of reason that has been lacking for so many years. It is time to put personal responsibility, freedom, and common sense ahead of special interest groups and failed socialist ideals.
It is time for families to be given relief from the burden of taxation imposed to support the nanny-state that the New Democratic Party works tirelessly to expand. Enough is enough.
